Access the attic and bring your light cordless drill screws and bathroom fan housing.
To vent a bath fan through the roof you must first prepare a ductwork connecting the roof top to the bathroom.
Mark the location of your fan by inserting a 16 inch roofing nail into the drywall at each corner so the nails protrude into the attic.
Open up the electrical splice box from either the attic or the bathroom depending on the model and pull out the fan wires.
Attach the bathroom fan to the joist.
Nail the lower corners with roofing nails and tar the heads.
Slide the vent under the shingles so they cover the top half of the vent flange.
Attach the electrical wires to the fan wires by twisting same color wires together white to white and black or red to black and attaching a wire connector.
From the attic locate the nails and mark the location of the fan with a pencil.
Cut a piece of drywall to make the ceiling hole the right size for your fan.
