A utility knife may come in handy here.
In the event that your vent did not come with a template you can simply use the vent itself.

Apply caulk around the edges of the vent.
It will take some manipulation to get the top of the flange to move under the cap flashing.
Slip the metal cap flashing under the siding and building paper at the top of the vent opening.
I am thinking that i should be able to cut holes in the siding where the old vents used to be and then install new gable vents on top of the siding as long as they have some sort of nailing flange.
Use lumber boards to construct a 2x4 square frame.
I have t1 11 siding.
I had gable vents but we removed the old vents and covered the holes with the new siding.
Insert flashing and a drip guard across the top.
Hope the top two bolts align with the holes.
First off you want to prepare the area start by using the template that came with your gable vent to mark out the area you want to install your new vent.
Insert the two top carriage bolts into the vent s mounting holes and glue them in place so they won t fall out.

My siding crew will be installing a decorative pvc gable louvered keystone vent for a customer of mine.

Or do i try to take the siding apart where i have to cut.
