To get the proper measurements for the top of the windows you will need to measure across the outside edges of the trim you just installed on the sides of the window.
Cut a 45 degree miter on one end of the trim board.
Measure between the marks add 2 inches and cut the stool to this length.
Adjust the miter as needed for a perfect fit.
Place the stool face down on the sill with its back edge against the sill trim.
