Insert the acrylic cutting bit into the router and lock it into place.
Make sure the cutting attachment is cutting straight up and down and not at an angle.
Use a straight edge to draw a straight line cut or trace any templates or patterns that you may have directly onto the sheet.
For best results use another tool like the earlier mentioned table saw to cut your acrylic roughly before getting a more exact finish with the router.

When cutting acrylic you won t get the best result using wood cutting bits as cutting and chip removal.
Score the line in the acrylic with a plastic scoring blade.
Follow the line in front of the tool instead of concentrating on the cutting edge itself this will help to stay in a straight line.
Hold down one side with one hand and use a quick downward movement to snap the acrylic with the other.
Draw the cut line onto the plexiglass with a marker.
