To test the wires detach both from the switch and carefully touch them. Depending on your opener you may have screw terminals or push in connectors. Turn sure lock off also called vacation lock check the power source where the powerhead is plugged in plug a lamp into the same outlet if the lamp works the power source is ok if the lamp does. Check that the wires are secure by gently tugging on them.

Take proper safety precautions to ensure that you are not injured if the door operates while you perform the following tests. The location of the switch will depend on the model of the device. Check the console lock switch. For some units lockout mode produces a flashing button.

The locking mechanism protects access to the garage by disabling the power unit. Look for labeling such as vacation on the unit then press and hold this button. The problem is either due to a blocked path between the sensors dirty eyes loose wires at the sensors or at the motor head or just bad sensors. The wiring is loose at the opener.

You will find that the door will only move an inch or so in the close direction and reverse.
