Garage Door Will Not Open With Wall Switch Or Remote

If the door operates either the wires weren t securely connected to the button or it s gone bad.

Usually when a garage door doesn t open the problem lies with either the wall switch or your remote. If the door operates the problem is in the wire or button. Simple but true the remote transmitter needs power to send a signal to your opener. If the door opens with the wall switch a simple battery change in the remote should do the trick.

That wiring can become damaged or disconnected. Check that wires are securely attached to the sensor s photoelectric eyes each eye has 2 wires and the wall unit. Depending on the model most work by connecting two to four wires onto terminals mounting the device on the wall and then plugging the unit into an electrical outlet. If the door opens when you press the button on the wall mounted control keypad but not when you use the remote you might have just pinpointed the source of the problem.

You might be out of range. This means while one option might not work you can still use the other to open and close the garage door while you sort it out. The button is bad. If pressing the button on your garage door s remote control doesn t work check the batteries first.

Try resetting the remote.
