If you leave the garage door open a lot wind born dirt and debris can accumulate in the track over time until one day it begins to interfere with the ability of the door to raise and lower itself.

Use a screwdriver to tighten the wire. The door should then hang correctly. A stuck garage door needs prompt assessment so you can decide whether you can fix. Turn the power back on and the door should open and close normally.

If this is not the problem it could well be that the springs of the garage door have stretched causing the shift. A door that is stuck halfway open is a security risk allowing access to the garage and the home if it s attached. A crooked garage door may need adjusting.
